[Concept by Mikako Yanaka]

I draw the paints the plants and sightseeing
by Japanese traditional methods to express their lives.
I usually use these materials at my pictures.
 
Support:Silk,Kozo paper,Torinoko paper
Adhesives:Animal glue
Sumi ink:Oil soot ink,Pine soot ink
Pigments:Azurite,Ultramarine blue,Malachite,Vermilion,Cinnabar,
Taisha,Red lead,Ochre,Orpiment,Mica,
Silver white,Gofun(Powder crushed oysters)
Dyes:Indian lake(Seceretion from the lac insect),Safflower,Indigo,Gamboge
Metals:Gold leaf,Gold powder

 

 

 

[Career]

1987 Mikako Yanaka was born in Tochigi, Japan.
2011 Graduated from Joshibi College of Art and Design.
Best Superior Graduation Works (Joshibi College of Art and Design).
2012 Solo Exhibition ”Mikako Yanaka” at Shinseido Gallery ‘14.
Ataka Prize (Tokyo University of the Arts).
2013 MFA, The Graduate School of Tokyo University of the Arts.
2015 Received the Director’s Award at the Oka Flower Prize Exhibition

We are proud to announce the exhibition of textile & fashion designer
Sunita Shanker from India.
 
Over the years Sunita has succeeded in endorsing as well as promoting the importance of 'Handmade in India'. Inspired by the rich heritage of India her work is an unique interpretation of style that seamlessly combines both Fashion & Indian crafts .
 
Her present work is an integration of various traditional crafts including handwoven cotton & Indian silk,bandhani (tie-dye), applique, Kantha work to mention a few.
 
We(HANNA) had the privilege of visiting her studio in India recently & witnessed the methodology & processes of her work.
 
Would like to invite you to meet the designer & interact with her.
